MG Hector launching in India in June 2019

MG (Morris Garages) is a UK based company first founded in 1924 founded by William Morris. But most people in India would not have heard about MG, unless they are truly fan of MG’s vintage collection.

MG has made its way, back to India under the leadership of the SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, the world’s 7th largest automobile company with 36th ranking in the Fortune 500 list. SAIC motors is a Chinese company who bought MG motors in 2011.

MG inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in September 2017 in Halol, Gujarat, MG is now fully operational in India. They are planning to launch multiple vehicles in India. First of which is MG hector in June 2019.

MG Hector and its Features

It is the first vehicle MG is going to launch in India, with Hector MG will make debut in India in June of 2019. I have not much details about this SUV, but will give all the information I was able to find.

Talking about the engine it will have both petrol and diesel engine, with 2-liter diesel and 1.5-liter petrol. The petrol model will have a hybrid mode with 48V electric system for better efficiency and power. It will also have 7-speed DCT transmission, though there is no 4wd. The petrol version churns out 143 bhp and 250 NM of torque and the diesel puts in 170 bhp and 350 NM of torque.

There is a 10.4-inch horizontal touchscreen with I-smart technology. This car has the largest touchscreen in this segment. I-smart will help in voice recognition which will help you control all the features of your car. It also has a 360-degree parking camera, which will ease up the parking. It is priced around 14-19 lakhs. Which is at par with other competitors.

There are lots more features included, and according to me MG hector will make a strong entry. Only problem is sales and services, initial buyers may find this a huge problem. Though MG has promised to roll out 110 service station across India, let’s wait and see how it works out. For me the biggest plus point is hybrid petrol variant with turbocharged and DCT. I will add more details as i get them so subscribe to my blog for more updates
